Gerhardt A. Hoffmann, 85, passed away at Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012.
Gerhardt was born in Stratford on April 7, 1926, to Joseph and Lizzie (nee: Meyer) Hoffmann. He married Meta Weichelt in Wausau on Sept. 30, 1950.
Gerhardt enjoyed fishing and riding ATV’s. His greatest joy was his family. Gerhardt cherished spending time on the boat and taking his grandchildren tubing. He also enjoyed the time he spent with his great grandchildren.
Gerhardt is survived by wife, Meta Hoffmann; sons, Tom (Jan) Hoffmann and Terry Hoffmann; grandchildren, Jared, Marc and Joseph Hoffmann, Jacob (Laura Ann) and Alissa Hoffmann; great-grandchildren, Miranda, Lailla and Wyatt Gerhardt; sister, Lucille Miller and brother, Lawrence (Florence) Hoffmann.
He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Gerhardt was preceded in death by three brothers and eight sisters.
A memorial service will be held for Gerhardt on Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2012 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends may meet with the family at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
