Marvin Jaeger Hildebrandt, 82, town of Sigel, died Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, at his home under the care of Ministry Home Hospice.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Sigel. The Rev. Douglas Schalow will officiate.
Friends may call at Taylor, Vollert & Jennnings Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, and again on Monday at St. John’s Lutheran Church from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
Marvin was born July 5, 1929, in Sigel to the late Otto and Lydia (Jaeger) Hildebrandt. He served in the U.S. Army, 87th Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, during the Korean War from February 1953 to April 1955. After returning home, Marvin met Lorretta Hanson at the Sherryland Ballroom and the two were married on Sept. 24, 1955, in Junction City.
He worked very hard to provide for his family, first as a farmer for 20 years, then owning and operating the Shellrock Inn before working in road construction and finally driving a dump truck for Tork Trucking.
Family was the most important to Marvin throughout his life, beginning with his wife and daughters and then extending to his grandchildren and great-grandchild. He would do anything for them and was always so very proud of each and every one. Marvin loved to go fishing with Lorretta and later with his girls. In his free time, he enjoyed cutting down trees, snowmobiling during the winter time, and go for drives with Lorretta. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers fan and loved his dogs and granddogs.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Lorretta; daughters, Penny Frost, Karen (Tim) Kubisiak and Dawn (Dennis) Larson; grandson, Brian (Jenny) Zellner; great-grandson, Jason Zellner; step-grandchildren, Joe (Sarah) Larson and Katie (Jake) Johnson; sister-in-law, Ruth Jaeger; special friends, Patsy and Ricky Kehrberg with their dog, Bouncer; and extended family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Bette Minta and brother, William Jaeger.
A very special word of thanks goes to Ministry Home Hospice for their kind and compassionate care of Marvin and his family during his final days.
